Resolutions

December 30, 2006 – 10:22 am

With the new year quickly approaching, everyone starts asking about new years resolutions. Sure, I agree that it’s a good idea to have goals. But the thing I don’t like about new years resolutions is that they are so short sited.

Sure, I have some of the same standard goals everyone else has: spend more time with family, get more sleep, exercise more, try and come up with the next big idea that makes billions, blah blah blah. But who really thinks that saying these things once a year really has any impact?

So, this year, every time someone has asked me about new years resolutions, I have said that I am fighting the system. I’ve gotten a few interesting responses from friends and family.

If yearly is not often enough, how often is? Quarterly? Monthly? Weekly?

Well, I think some combination there are. Yes, yearly goals are good, as are lifetime goals. But how do you get there? By one day at a time, little by little.

  2. Fighting the system….. Now you’re speaking my language! :)

Care to elaborate on just how your gonna fight it?…. I have a few suggestions!

  3. the way I’m fighting the system is by not creating yearly resolutions, but splitting them up into short term goals and long term goals. not real ground shaking, but when you ask someone about their resolutions in February, they have already given up.
