Don’t worry, somebody caught it on tape

via AdPulp, a story about an optician that is abusive to a reporter who is investigating complaints about his company, all caught on camera.

What caught my attention was that the optician had to be out of his mind to think that everything wasn’t being recorded. I mean after all, he was being interviewed by a reporter with a camera crew.

And then to tell off the cops when things escalate, well, that was just a bad move by the optician and the clock was ticking on his 15 minutes of fame.

And not to freak anyone out by having to look over your shoulder to see if someones watching your every move, but as I’ve said before, don’t be naive to think that you can get away with doing something stupid and that nobody is watching.

Or for that matter, if you send an email, an IM, text message, a voice mail, or a create a blog entry, be sure you stand behind it, because you never know where it is going to show up.

Example: I’m amused with the type of stuff that kids post on Facebook and MySpace and think that their parents won’t find out. In fact, MySpace even offers a service for parents to monitor their kids’ pages. [via Wall Street Journal]

I’m all about social networking and transparency (I do have a blog, after all, which is the first step). Just keep in mind that the stupid things people do get a lot more press than the good things.

  2. Employers are now searching out/looking at applicants’ Facebook and MySpace pages to learn more about them. Makes posting those pics of you and your friends passed out or otherwise partaking in escalating levels of debauchery seem like not such a good idea anymore.

When will people learn that when it’s on the internet, ANYBODY can see it!
