blog away, little marketer. blog away.

I was reading Max Kalehoff’s article on Why All Marketing People Should Blog, and he has a few solid points.

  • Blogging is one of the best ways to internalize marketing and publish your ideas
  • Blogging forces you, as the writer, to better understand your audience
  • Blogging is a good lesson in syndication (popular blogs have more RSS subscribers than visitors)
  • You get an education in the spontaneous and fluid nature of the web and social networks

And I would add a couple more. Think of them as my little contribution to the blogging universe.

  • Time management - because you have to water it occasionally (at least a few times a week) to keep it alive and growing, and it takes a fair amount of time
  • succinctness - because no one will read more than a few hundred words in a blog, especially if you are posting frequently.

I’m open to your viewpoints. Send em my way.

  2. Thanks for pointing me out! And after the Gawker slamming, I think another would be: “Maintain a thick skin, and try to remember there are humans on the other end.”
    Cheers,

  4. Yeah, blogging can be profitable but it requires time and a good deal of work! That is not enough just to post regularly in a blog.
