Beyond page view tracking: determining engagement

Good reminder article today from Chief Marketer called The Death of the Page View.

In a Web 2.0 world, there are many other factors that have to be considered, including RSS feeds, MySpace profile friends, and YouTube favorites, just to name a few. There are also some technical challenges in accurately tracking client behavior for projects that use Flash and AJAX, but nothing that can’t be accommodated.

So if you are tracking your campaigns and determining success purely based on page views, I challenge you to dig a bit deeper.
