In late May I posted about Facebook opening up their platform to third party development. Brilliant, I thought.

Now, rumors are about the town that Microsoft is discussing a $6 billion offer for Facebook. [via John Battelle and Barron’s Online]

According to the Fast Company article I referenced in my previous post (which sites the New York Times and others), Mark Zuckerberg, the 22-year-old founder and CEO of Facebook, turned down Yahoo’s offer of a cool billion less than a year ago.

5 billion in additional market value in 6 months?

Job well done, Mark. Brilliant, indeed.

  2. Wow. That would be hard to turn down.

  3. I still have a feeling that he’s in this for the long haul. $6 Billion is more than enough money, but Mark has shown over and over that his ultimate goal isn’t to be able to sit on the beach for the rest of his life.

I will definitely be watching to see how things turn out.
