Does an iPhone increase your coolness factor?
July 20, 2007 – 3:25 pmI’m not sure if an iPhone increases your coolness factor, but I’ll find out in the next 2 weeks. I’ll be giving a presentation on the iPhone to the rest of our company (Barkley) August 1st.
Do you have hands on experience with the device? I’d be interested in your thoughts as I build my presentation over the next 1 1/2 weeks. There are hundreds of blogs and reviews I’ll be revisiting as well.
In the interim, check out the Zeus Jones article iPhone as human digital device for some brain-twisting discussions around the iPhone as an interface between the physical world and virtual world.
I think they are on to something here. If you can incorporate speech to text (physical to digital) and text to speech (digital to physical) with a device that has other appeal and is already carried with you 24/7, you are able to extend the functionality even further. Are there issues to be worked out? Of course, but I think there is hidden potential there.

Absolutely, the iPhone makes you cool! I played with one this past weekend and was very impressed by the display, ease of use, elegance, and the whole device just eliminates the issues of small screen, small keyboard, bad sound that have hindered mobile devices. I loved it, and I can’t wait to hear your take. Guess we’re going to have to do coffee again soon so I can see it in action.

Doug has one. You probably know that. I’ve played with it and it’s cool. But for whatever reason it just doesn’t do “it” for me. Not sure why.
I can tell you I dropped it twice in the span of about 30 minutes. It doesn’t feel right in my hand. Heavy and thin. Nothing to grip. Maybe some rubber sides or something would change my mind.
I’ll stick with my Treo 755p.
