Power 150: The top 150 marketing blogs

AdAge Power 150 by Todd And

Who has the top blog?

Today is the official launch of the Power 150 by Todd Andrlik over at AdAge.com.

“The Power 150 is the creation of PR executive and keen blogger Todd Andrlik. He used three objective measures — algorithmic metrics based on Google PageRank, Bloglines subscriptions, and Technorati ranking — as well as one qualitative measure, to create a dynamic system that scores the blogs. ”

“Then last month, he concluded a deal with Ad Age to move the Power 150 to Adage.com. “This partnership means that more people will now have access to bloggers who faithfully deliver quality marketing information on a daily basis,” said Mr. Andrlik. “The bottom line: The Power 150 will become an even more valuable tool with Ad Age’s staff, resources and giant readership behind it.”

Many of my fellow Age of Conversation contributors are on the list.

As an interesting side note, the value of blogs continues to grow. How do you assign a financial value to a blog? Thats a good question, and its safe to assume any valuation would closely mimic the Power 150. From a Technorati only perspective, you can check out Dane Carlson’s blog valuator.

Seth’s blog: $5,831,133.66
Adrants.com: $773,419.80

As David Burn at AdPulp points out, some bloggers are making bank, with Jeremy Schoemaker making $12,000 per month for 30 minutes a day from shoemoney.com (blog evaluator: $2,626,804.62). His particular blog is not marketing specific, and many individual marketing blogs do not have advertising, but blog monetization has been a big topic the last couple weeks.

As Andy mentions, when can we stop referring to blogs as new media? At what point do new forms of communication become standard and the silos between interactive and traditional advertising truly merge?

Regardless of what business you are in, it would be beneficial to become familiar with the Power 150 list as well as the Age of Conversation contributors, because these individuals and organizations are leading the “new media” revolution.
